Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning is celebrating the success of its annual Oldest Furnace Contest, a community-driven initiative that invited any homeowner to share their oldest heating systems still in use today. This year’s winner, located in Rochester, NY, was resident Lois Meyer, whose Lennox® furnace is estimated to be more than 150 years old.

“I was pleasantly surprised to be the winner of the oldest furnace contest,” shared Meyer. “It was old and not very efficient. We now, thanks to Isaac, have a wonderful new furnace. Everything was top-notch from start to finish. The installers were professional and courteous. It has been a great experience!”

The contest drew just shy of 600 entries from across all Isaac service areas, including Rochester, Avon, Canandaigua, Syracuse, Twin Tiers, and Buffalo. Participants submitted photos and personal stories showcasing furnaces that have quietly heated homes for decades, often passed down through generations.

Meyer’s entry earned her a brand-new furnace and installation valued at approximately $6,000, providing a safer, more efficient heating solution for winters ahead. Furnaces typically have a lifespan of 20 to 25 years, and Isaac Heating & Air Conditioning notes that homeowners still relying on systems far beyond that range are often doing so out of financial necessity rather than choice.

Beyond awarding a winner, the Oldest Furnace Contest serves as an educational opportunity to encourage homeowners to think proactively about system safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability. By highlighting these stories, Isaac aims to raise awareness while offering tangible support to those who need it most.
